The Ministry of Education’s Sports Administration launched the Black Panther Cup National High School Baseball Tournament in 2013 to promote baseball among high school students, enhance youth baseball skills, and develop outstanding young players. The tournament represents the highest honor in high school baseball. Since 2015, CTBC has been the title sponsor, making it the largest high school baseball tournament in Taiwan, with teams from all 22 counties and cities participating. Each year, around 200 teams register for the competition. Inspired by Japan's Koshien, the tournament adopts a single-elimination format regardless of division or gender, earning it the title of "Taiwan’s Koshien."
Following the tournament, the "CTBC Black Panther Cup Tour" is held annually, featuring CTBC Brothers coaches and players traveling across Taiwan.
This initiative provides specialized training for grassroots teams and shares professional baseball techniques and experience. To date, nearly 3,000 players have benefited from this program.
The Aki-Masa Foundation, in collaboration with Mizuno Taiwan, contributed equipment for the tournament’s top eight teams. By supporting the Ministry of Education and CTBC’s efforts in grassroots baseball, the foundation aims to ensure the legacy of Taiwan’s Koshien continues, giving more high school students and school teams a platform to showcase their talents.
